Urban and interactive interventions

CONTENT WILL BE UPDATED SOON

La Biennale de Montréal 2009 proposes a collection of works produced within an urban environment, one of interactive culture. It bears witness to contemporary culture through various artistic disciplines and their reciprocal influences.

The most significantly meaningful change to have occurred in international contemporary art recently has been the trend to adopt so called Open Culture models, which is to propose an open relationship between creativity and the cultural process. As a result, La Biennale is offering up various innovative elements of artistic, cultural production and creativity to generate, in part, its own content.

La Biennale de Montréal 2009 is based on Open Culture as expressed through its various facets: OPEN MUSIC, OPEN CINEMA, OPEN DESIGN as well as production and presentation methods used in the VISUAL ARTS. Open Culture, in keeping with its broadest definition, resonates throughout La Biennale

  • It provides the opportunity to develop ideas and projects in an open, creative forum where third parties and artists perform and contribute.
  • Presenting some of the most recent, significant works created in accordance with the philosophy of Open Culture.
  • Exhibitions include projects that illustrate how individual creativity is revealed through daily living activities and how interaction among individuals can transform lives and environments, adapting them to personal needs and aspirations.
  • Some marginal movements can be found at the heart of contemporary culture. Whether on the web or in urban actions, each plays a role in shaping today's culture.
